Amphiprion percula
Made famous by Hollywood in Finding Nemo, the Percula Clownfish is a bright and sassy member of our reef. Clownfish are often found playing among the anemones, and also use them as shelter and protection. Their relationship with the anemones becomes symbiotic, because the Clownfish helps lure food to the anemone in exchange for the shelter it provides.
Clownfish maintain a diet of algae, worms, crustaceans, and zooplankton.
Percula Clownfish and their anemone friends are found in warmer waters in the Pacific Ocean, Indian Ocean, off northwest Australia, southeast Asia and Japan, where they usually stay in more shallow waters.
