Christmas Wrasse

Halichoeres claudia

The Christmas Wrasse is so-named for the distinctive coloration. Its body is green, with reddish horizontal stripes, which make it look as if it is gift-wrapped for Christmas. This peaceful little fellow startles easily and tends to hide in the sand when frightened. The Christmas Wrasse is a native of Fiji, and eats fireworms and small snails and shrimp.
